Trams and buses (Nysse): Tampere's tram line runs through the centre alongside a dense bus network. With a contactless bank card, a 90-minute ticket in zones AB costs €2.80 and a 24-hour ticket €8.00 (2026); the Nysse app and travel cards are alternatives.
Taxis: Available by phone, at ranks and through taxi apps; they are expensive by European standards.
Cycling: Bike lanes and lakeside paths are good in summer; shared bikes run in the warmer months.
Walking: The centre is compact: the rapids, Finlayson, the Market Hall and Tampere Hall are all within about 15 minutes' walk.
Tampere-Pirkkala Airport (TMP) is about 17 km from the centre. The airport bus 103 stopped running on 4 August 2026, so plan on a taxi or a pre-booked transfer. Many visitors fly into Helsinki instead and take the train (about 1.5-2 hours).
By Train: Tampere station is central, with frequent trains from Helsinki, Turku and other cities (book at VR.fi).
By Bus: Long-distance coaches (Onnibus, Matkahuolto) stop near the railway station.
