Just off the Croisette itself, the streets immediately behind La Malmaison exhibition hall hold a pocket of independent galleries, artist studios, and small design boutiques that most beach-focused visitors walk straight past. Unlike the boutiques of Rue d'Antibes, these spaces showcase emerging and local artists, with rotating shows that change every few weeks. Wandering here on a weekday afternoon often means having entire galleries to yourself, with owners happy to talk about current work. It is a low-key way to see a creative, un-glossy side of a city best known for film-festival spectacle.
