Best Overall: Spring (April-June) & Fall (September-November)
- Spring (April-June): Pleasant temperatures (15-25°C/59-77°F), blooming parks, outdoor terrace season begins, fewer crowds than summer. May festivals include San Isidro celebration.
- Fall (September-November): Comfortable weather (12-23°C/54-73°F), cultural season starts with gallery openings and concerts, autumn colors in parks, ideal walking conditions.
- Summer (July-August): Hot (28-35°C/82-95°F), many locals vacation away, some restaurants close, but rooftop bars thrive, outdoor cinema in parks, and extended museum hours. Expect siesta closures 2-5pm.
- Winter (December-March): Cool (5-12°C/41-54°F), fewer tourists, Christmas lights spectacular, January sales, museum crowds minimal. Pack layers buildings often lack heating.
Avoid: August if seeking authentic local atmosphere many madrileños leave the city. Mid-summer heat can be intense for extensive sightseeing.
