Ibiza's Phoenician past, founded as Ibossim around 654 BC, is one of the oldest continuously inhabited Phoenician settlements in the western Mediterranean.
An extensive Phoenician-Punic necropolis carved into a hillside just outside Dalt Vila, in use for over a millennium from the 7th century BC. Visitors can descend into excavated underground burial chambers, part of the same UNESCO listing as Dalt Vila.
The ruins of Ibiza's original 8th-century BC Phoenician settlement, perched on a coastal cliff a short drive from Ibiza Town. Low stone wall foundations remain, with an information panel and a nearby beach cove — a quiet, uncommercialized archaeological site.
