Getting Around Vienna
Public Transportation
Vienna's excellent public transport system (Wiener Linien) includes U-Bahn (metro), trams (Straßenbahn), buses, and trains. The integrated network operates 5 AM-midnight daily, with night buses continuing service.
- U-Bahn: Five lines (U1-U6) connect major attractions. Fast, frequent, and air-conditioned. Stations marked with blue 'U' signs
- Trams: Extensive network including Ring Tram (1, 2) circling historic center. Scenic but slower than metro. Trams 1, 2, D are particularly tourist-useful
- Buses: Fill gaps in rail network. Less tourist-oriented except airport buses and night services
- S-Bahn: Suburban trains connecting outer districts and nearby towns
