Festivals & Events in Thassos

Annual Events

The Aeschylia Festival (July-August) is the island's signature cultural event, staging ancient Greek tragedies and comedies in the restored Ancient Theatre of Thasos, drawing performers and audiences from across Greece.

Orthodox Easter (April, date varies) is celebrated with candlelit processions in Limenas and village churches. August 15th (Assumption of Mary/Dekapentavgoustos) brings the island's largest religious celebration, especially in Panagia village, with an all-night panigyri (feast) of music, dancing, and food. Local honey and grape harvest festivals take place in September in the inland villages.
