Getting To and Around Thassos

Thassos has no airport; access is exclusively by ferry from the mainland. The main route runs from Kavala (35-45 minutes) directly to Limenas, while a shorter, more frequent crossing links Keramoti to Skala Prinou (35 minutes) — Keramoti is close to Kavala International Airport (KVA), making it the typical arrival point for flying visitors.

On the island, a rental car or scooter is strongly recommended — the public bus (KTEL) circles the coastal ring road but runs infrequently and doesn't serve the mountain villages well. The full coastal ring road is about 100km and can be driven in 2.5-3 hours without stops. Taxis are available but limited in number, especially at night.
