Halkidiki's compact size and proximity to Thessaloniki make several worthwhile excursions possible without changing your base.
Northern Greece's largest city is under an hour's drive from most of Kassandra and closer still from Halkidiki's western edge, making it an easy day trip for its Byzantine churches, waterfront promenade, and White Tower, plus a livelier restaurant and nightlife scene than anywhere on the peninsulas.
A full loop of Sithonia's coastal road strings together most of the peninsula's best viewpoints and beaches — Vourvourou, Sarti, Kalamitsi, and Toroni — in a single scenic day, with plenty of tavernas along the way for lunch stops overlooking the water.
